SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police are investigating their second homicide in less than 24 hours. Officers responded to 116 Maplewood Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday to check on a man who had not been seen recently.

They found Pleamon Fletcher, 69, dead inside. Investigators later determined that his death was a homicide. The news comes as a shock to those who live in the neighborhood.

"We've lived her over 20 years and that's one of the reasons why we've stayed is I mean this neighborhood is very quiet and everybody knows each other. When I heard what had happened it was a complete shock because I would have never thought something like that would happen on this street ever,” said Peter Smith, neighbor.

Police are still looking to speak with anyone with more information. If you have information that could help, you can call Syracuse Police at (315) 442-5222.
