CLINTON, N.Y. -- With back-to-back NCAA final four trips under its belt, the Hamilton women's lacrosse team is looking primed for another as the only undefeated team left in all of women's Division III.
Last year's run was supported by a large contingent of freshmen, and the Continentals are again young with 18 of their 29 players being freshmen or sophomores. Despite that relative inexperience, Hamilton is 12-0 overall and ranked number three in the country and could take over the top spot as current number one The College of New Jersey lost this past week.
While junior Sarah Bray, who was the Final Four MVP as a freshman when Hamilton won the D-III national championship, is the clear leader in total points (45 on 16 goals and 29 assists), the team features 11 players with at least ten points and nine players with at least ten goals. Defensively, Hamilton added some new designs this season and is holding opponents to just 6.83 goals per game.
The Continentals next host local rival Utica Tuesday afternoon.
