SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's basketball team will begin the coming season against a pair of first-time opponents in the 20th annual 2K Classic: Kennesaw State and Hampton.

Syracuse will open its 2014-15 regular season by hosting Kennesaw State on November 14 as part of the 20th annual 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. The Orange are paired with Hampton in a November 16 Dome contest that is another round of the event.
The Kennesaw State encounter has not been assigned a tip-off time while the outing against Hampton will be played at 4:00 p.m. and televised by ESPNU. Both teams are first-time foes for the Orange
Kennesaw State features first-year head coach Jimmy Lallathin. The Owls were 6-25 last season but return the club's top four scorers.
Hampton reached the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and completed its campaign with an 18-13 mark. Coach Edward Joyner has four returning starters.
The championship rounds of the 2K Classic feature Texas vs. Iowa and Syracuse vs. California on November 20 in New York's Madison Square Garden. The consolation and championship games are scheduled for November 21.
SU earned its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and finished with a 28-5 overall record, last season. The Orange won 25 straight games to start the season and was ranked first in both national polls for three weeks.
Coach Jim Boeheim, owner of the second most coaching victories in Division I history (948), will guide his alma mater for the 39th season.
