VESTAL, N.Y. -- A world champion softball pitcher made a stop Monday at Binghamton University.

Jennie Finch was the guest speaker at this year's annual Women's Athletics luncheon.

Finch was the starting pitcher for Team USA during the 2004 Olympics, and was a three-time first-team All-American as a college softball pitcher with University of Arizona.

During the luncheon, Finch talked to guests about how much has changed with women and sports, and how important it is that women get the opportunity to play.

"My message is to just be the best you and life is short and make the most of the opportunities that you have and it's amazing to see how far we have come as women, and in sports especially," Finch said.

Finch says she is among a group of athletes, hoping to get softball and baseball reinstated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
