SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Having made three NCAA final four appearances in the past four years but with no championships to show for it, the Syracuse women's lacrosse team says ending that drought is its only concern this year.
The Orange, ranked No. 3 in the preseason media poll, returns seven of its top 10 scorers from last year including its top two, Alyssa Murray and Kayla Treanor. That experience will be needed as SU enters the ACC which has four other teams ranked in the top-10 and two more in the top-20. On top of those opponents Syracuse will play No. 4 Northwestern, No. 5 Florida, and No. 13 Loyola plus Towson and Albany which are receiving votes.
Syracuse's season-opener is Jan. 21 at Jacksonville. Should the Orange finish on top it will mark SU's first national title for any women's team sport.
