One of the most hotly-contested and under-publicized battles at SU training camp is the punting competition between a true freshman and a junior in his second stint at Syracuse.

Shane Raupers first enrolled at SU in July of 2009 after accepting a scholarship offer but quit the team and left school before the season began. Two years later he's back on the team as a walk-on and competing for the position left open by two-time team captain Rob Long.
Jonathan Fisher is a true freshman out of Oakfield-Alabama HS near Rochester and a first-team all-state selection last season. Fisher averaged nearly 42 yards a kick during his high school career.

Head Coach Doug Marrone has said the two punters are "neck-and-neck" and the race for the starting spot is too close to call right now.
