Former Syracuse football player Da'mon Merkerson has signed a free-agent contract with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL, a team coached by former NFL coach Jerry Glanville.

The UFL is a five-team professional football league that begins its season August 13th.

Merkerson, a converted wide receiver, had the only two interceptions of his career last season and helped the Orange to a breakthrough 8-win season.

Merkerson will team up with former SU lineman Adam Terry with the Colonials, play his home games at Rentschler Field, and report for training camp Monday July 18th. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
