NEW YORK CITY -- A day after officially announcing his bid for Governor, Republican candidate and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino kicked off his statewide campaign tour in New York City this morning.
Astorino says he's running the race to win it.
A major issue Astorino is focusing on is that more New Yorkers are leaving the state, than any other state in the country.
According to Astorino, 400,000 New Yorkers have left for a better business climate, better cost of living and lower taxes.
He says state officials need to lower taxes and provide a better education, so everyone has an opportunity and a chance to start a business or start a family.
"Who doesn't want to have a good job. Who doesn't want to have a safe neighborhood for their child. A good education. We can argue how but we all want basically the same thing. In the last four years this state has been on the wrong path. We need to change course," Astorino said.
So far, Astrorino is the only Republican to officially enter the race.
He will be a guest this evening on Capital Tonight. It airs tonight and every weeknight at 8 p.m., with a replay at 11:30 p.m.
