SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse woman will receive more than $51,000 each year for the rest of her life after hitting the jackpot on the Win for Life scratch-off lottery ticket.
Leanette Pizarro, 22, is a Puerto Rico native who just moved to Central New York four months ago. She purchased the ticket at the Syracuse Best Market on East Fayette Street back in September.
Yolanda Vega presented Pizarro with her check at the store Wednesday and helped the native Spanish speaker express her excitement over the win.
"She says she plans to invest in a family business with her sisters and take her mom on vacation, where are you going to take mommy? Whatever she wants, she wants to go to Jamaica, wherever she wants to go you're taking mom," said New York Lottery Spokesperson Yolanda Vega.
Pizarro says she wants to be a police officer someday. She is the sixth Central New York resident to win a lottery jackpot this year.
