CORNING, N.Y. -- The American Planning Association has designated Corning's historic Market Street to be one of ten Great Streets for 2013.
APA names 30 streets, neighborhoods and public spaces that add value to communities.
Market Street has been singled out for its Victorian architecture, efforts to preserve the town's historic nature and efforts to expand business.
More than 100 store front businesses with upper-floor living quarters occupy the restored 19th century Victorian commercial buildings.
Market Street is also home to Centerway Square, which was recently named 'Most Beautiful Square' by Travel and Leisure Magazine.
