ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Oneida County men face charges for breaking into a local business, and authorities believe they could be responsible for a string of burglaries across the region.

They've been investigating burglaries throughout Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties over the past several months.

Several businesses were broken into, including diners, American Legions, VFW's and town offices. The suspects stole cash, safes and ATM's.

Now, they've arrested 54-year-old Eric Eichstadt and 30-year-old Dean Mortise III of Oriskany. Both men are charged with third-degree burglary, accused of breaking into the Holland Patent Legion and stealing cash.

Investigators say they found an ATM, safes, and several other pieces of property while searching the suspects' home.

The Oneida County sheriff's office and state police continue to investigate the other burglaries. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
