NEW YORK STATE -- Despite spelling all of their words correctly, Alaina Kenny and Dylan O'Connor will not move to the finals in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Only 12 contestants can compete in the finals, but more than 30 contestants were left after the semifinals. In that scenario, the final cut is determined by a points system and previous testing. Alaina and Dylan did not have enough points to continue.
Alaina is an eighth grade student at Onondaga Hill and Dylan is a seventh grade student Alexandria Central.
