NATIONWIDE -- Memorial Day is a big sale weekend for retailers across the country.
"We improve our staffing, we put more stuff in front of the customers in our main aisles and give them better buying options as far as promos and discounts and different things like that," Lowe’s Store Manager Mackie Singletary said.
Buyers said it's all about the sales, and that it's a great time to stock up on the summertime essentials.
"They do a good Memorial Day sale," shopper Tina Bullard said. "You're getting a grill at almost half price."
While prices are low this weekend, they may go even lower in the coming weeks. But Singletary said Lowe's has a solution.
"What we have is, we have a competitor price, and we'll match it and beat it by 10 percent," Singletary said. "Also, within a 30-day period of a weekend or sale or promo we will go back and match that price."
With risk-free shopping like that, some say Memorial Day is the best time to spend.
"Everybody is gone and you don't have to fight the crowds to come in a buy what you need to buy," Bullard said.
Singletary said most Memorial Day weekend shoppers are after big ticket items like appliances, patio furniture and electronics.
