GEDDES, N.Y. -- State police say a Syracuse man has died after being hit by a car in the Town of Geddes.

Troopers say 35-year-old Jeffrey Proietti was participating in a 12 hour endurance event with 15 others when he was hit from behind by a car on State Fair Boulevard around 6:45 Saturday morning.

The group was walking east bound on the right hand shoulder when it happened.

Proietti was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

State police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated. The crash is still under investigation. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
