Lockdown on the White House has been lifted

WASHINGTON, DC -- A lockdown on the White House has been lifted.

A driver has been taken into custody after driving through an unauthorized White House checkpoint.

Police say a suspicious car followed a motorcade into a restricted area on white house grounds. That happened around 4:40 p.m., and the White House was on lockdown for about an hour.

The lockdown has been lifted, and that driver, whose name or identity is not being released at this time, has been taken into custody.

Police in DC say there's no reason to believe that anyone was in danger, or if there was any threat to the White House. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
