GREENE, N.Y. -- Greene Police Chief Steven Dutcher has been suspended for several weeks.

Mayor Phil Brown confirmed Dutcher has been off duty for the last four weeks. On Tuesday, New York State Police said Dutcher was arrested last Thursday. He was charged with petit larceny and harassment.

Dutcher was arraigned in Oxford Town Court and later released.

It is unknown whether or not the arrest is connected to Dutcher's suspension. Brown did not comment on why he was suspended, and said an investigation is ongoing.

Dutcher has been police chief since 2004, and is the only K-9 handler in the department. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
