STATEWIDE -- Tuesday is World Wish Day to commemorate the anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To help mark the occasion, Dunkin Donuts has created a special edition donut.
Through May 7, the special donut will be sold at locations across the region. The donut will be available for $1, and all the proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The non-profit grants wishes to kids who are suffering from life threatening medical conditions. You can help the organization by making a monetary donation, volunteering your time, or donating your frequent flier miles.
The local chapter recently purchased a playground for Clara Henderson. The four-year-old has undergone several surgeries due to Sturge-Weber Syndrome, a neurological condition.
"When these children, they get these wishes, and it doesn't seem like a big deal for when, after they've been through the ordeals and the medical issues, it's huge for them. It doesn't matter what their wish is, when they see their wish come true, it's just instant smiles for them," said Amanda Henderson, Clara's mother.
Last year, local Dunkin Donuts stores helped raise more than $25,000 for Make-A-Wish kids. Participating stores include locations in Syracuse, Watertown, Utica, and Binghamton.
