TOWN OF VERONA, N.Y. -- A husband and wife who were hit by a train and killed in Oneida County appear to have taken their own lives.
State police said Earl and Mary Myatt, both 59, were hit on tracks near Fox Road in the Town of Verona around 2 p.m.
An investigation revealed that a missing persons report had been filed for the couple out of the city of Oneida. State Police believe Myatt took his wife out of a health care facility where she was recovering from a brain aneurysm and purposely got hit by the train. Troopers found a suicide note inside Myatt's vehicle nearby.
