SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It wasn't the ending the Syracuse University men's basketball team had hoped for, but despite Saturday's tournament loss, spirits were still high on campus Monday.
The university is celebrating National Orange Day on the school's 144th anniversary.
On campus, it's all about showing your Orange pride with a birthday cake and ice cream and lots of goodies for students and faculty.
And around the world, Syracuse University is working with about 250,000 alumni to get them to wear orange and conduct service projects in their communities for the special day.
"Well, 44 as you know has a really special significance here at Syracuse. And, we figured 144 has just as much of a significance. So, we took full opportunity this year to really raise the bar and what we do on National Orange Day. And, our grads are already appreciating that and letting us know by tweeting and Facebooking us all kinds of great messages on our birthday," said Matthew Manfri, assistant vice president for alumni engagement.
