SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Thirty-six exhibitors took part in Operation: Start Up and Grow, from organizations specializing in everything from small business support to veterans resource groups. The goal was to give veterans a networking opportunity, while walking them through each step needed to begin a business.

Successful veteran business owners also gave presentations, detailing how they were able to turn their ideas into real businesses.

"When you're ready to start your own business you know very much what you want to do, but you don't know how to go about setting up your business, so to be able to talk to somebody who has gone through the nitty gritty of it, you can really get the tips that will make it easier for you, so that you won't be spinning your wheels looking for the wrong things," said Syracuse Small Business Administration Deputy District Director Cathy Pokines.
