NEW YORK STATE -- Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office announces a settlement with MVP Health Care.
Schneiderman says the company wrongly denied mental health benefits to thousands of New Yorkers.
As a part of the settlement, MVP must reform its health claims review process, cover residential treatment and charge the lower primary care co-payment for outpatient visits to most mental health and substance abuse treatments.
MVP will also have to submit previously denied claims for independent review which the AG's office says could result in more than six million dollars returned to its members.
They must also pay a $300,000 penalty.
