FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A special event was held at the State Capitol Tuesday to honor Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division.
For the third consecutive year, the troops were recognized for their service and sacrifice.
Fort Drum's Color Guard opened the Senate session.
Brigadier General Michael Howard addressed the Senate and talked about the unique relationship between Fort Drum and the North Country.
Then State Senator Patty Ritchie declared it Fort Drum Day.
The day-long event also featured displays in the halls of the Capitol put together by the soldiers themselves.
