CENTRAL NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A prominent Central New York attorney and former justice with the State Court of Appeals has passed away.
Stewart Hancock Junior died at his home in Cazenovia Tuesday morning at the age of 91.
Hancock spent eight years on the Court of Appeals, following time with the Fourth Appellate Division and the State Supreme Court.
Following his retirement from the Court of Appeals in 1993, Hancock returned to the Hancock Estabrook law firm.
He also worked on a pro bono basis with the Hiscock Legal Aid Society, and served in multiple judicial roles in the Oneida Nation Court.
Hancock is survived by his wife, five children and thirteen grandchildren.
