KIRKWOOD, N.Y. -- Penguin Random House announced that it plans to close its distribution facility in Kirkwood.
Company officials announced Thursday that the closing process will start in February of next year and finish by June of 2015.
The book maker says its consolidating operations to their Maryland and Indiana operations centers.
Officials claim the closings will increase their competitive edge in the marketplace.
The company has not specified how many jobs will be lost.
Penguin Random House is also closing a second distribution center in Pittston, Pa.
