The American Heart Association celebrates the 50th anniversary of American Heart Month this year. As Brad Vivacqua tells us, February is all about heart health awareness and prevention.
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- People across the region are encouraged to be more heart healthy during the month of February.
Events are scheduled across the region throughout the month of February for American Heart Month. This Friday is also Wear Red Day, to draw awareness to heart disease in women. All of the events scheduled will help raise money for important research, education, and advocacy programs.
"It's really just a way to keep your heart health in mind all throughout Heart Month, and like I said, everyone has their hearts in mind already in February. You see hearts everywhere for Valentine's Day so it's a perfect fit," explained Kirsty Smorol, the communications director for the American Heart Association.
America's Heart Run and Walk is scheduled for March 1 at Utica College, and the Syracuse Heart Walk is scheduled for March 22 at the SRC Arena.
