NEW JERSEY -- Authorities have identified the man killed in a New Jersey carjacking over the weekend and we've learned that he is a former Syracuse University law student.
Dustin Friedland was shot and killed outside a shopping mall in Short Hills, New Jersey Sunday night. Authorities say he had been holiday shopping with his wife.
As the couple was getting into their vehicle, they were confronted by two armed men. Friedland was shot and the men drove off in the SUV. It was found about eight miles away Monday morning.
Friedland's wife was not hurt.
Friedland graduated from the SU College of Law in 2009, while his wife is a 2011 graduate of the school.
The University released a statement saying their thoughts and prayers are with Friedland's family and friends.
