SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- There was a big turnout for St. Lucy's Annual Holiday gift giveaway in Syracuse on Saturday.
It was held inside the church's gym on Gifford Street. Those who registered were given clothing, toys, and other items.
More than 2,000 gifts were expected to be handed out.
People from all over Onondaga County came to volunteer including some teens. For those involved, it's about filling a need in the community.
"We started this program because we saw a need at Christmas to give people new gifts, beautiful gifts, that we shop for and we enjoy it. We get much more out of it than they do," said event co-organizer Dana Bernardinicarr.
This year, the event served about 600 adults and 250 children.
