UTICA, N.Y. -- The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce has officially changed its name.
The Chamber announced Thursday it will be known as the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce. The organizations says they have been discussing the change for about six months.
According to the chairman, he hopes the new name will help with name recognition.
"As we go to other places, we've been finding most people don't have a familiarity with Mohawk Valley as much as they do Utica. And so we always have to tell people, 'Well yes, we're the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce from Utica.' It just makes sense," said John Kenealy, Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman.
The chamber says they'll still represent the same multi-county area with the new name.
