WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The North Country is looking forward to using new funds for their projects.

More than $2 million will go towards the redevelopment of the former Mercy Hospital in Watertown. COR Development has plans for a housing unit with commercial space.

Hotel Saranc in Saranac Lake will receive $5 million for a major renovation. Local officials say the North Country is a such a big part of the process.

"Some of these things like the Woolworth Building, Mercy or my good friend Mayor Rabideau in Saranac there with the hotel and so on. Those are things that are symbols within their communities. When those get renovated I think that has a cascading effect on other properties and the attitudes of people in a community," said Jeff Graham, Watertown Mayor.

Another $6 million dollars will go towards improving broadband and affordable high speed service across the region. The former Lake Flower Hotel will receive $2 million to transform into a new resort and waterfront restaurant. An additional $250,000 will benefit the Wild Center in Tupper Lake with outdoor activities and exhibits. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
