ITHACA, N.Y. -- A man is badly burned in Ithaca and Police say a good Samaritan helped keep him alive.
Crews responded to a reported tent fire in the area known as "The Jungle" near the railroad tracks on South Fulton Street just before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.
They arrived to find a man, 53, with serious burns.
According to police, the victim had been helped by an employee of Cayuga Lumber.
That employee saw the fire, and helped put out flames on the victim's clothes with snow until emergency responders arrived.
The victim is currently in critical condition at a local burn unit.
His name is not being released.
Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire.
