BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of Santas took over downtown Binghamton Saturday for the First Annual Santacon.
Throughout the day, participants made their way to different restaurants and bars along State Street.
Many other major U.S. cities hold Santacon events, but this is Binghamton's first year participating.
Organizers say social media helped the event to gain popularity.
"I wanted to go to the one in NYC but I had finals so I couldn't make it. So I made a Facebook event and invited like 20 people. Then all of a sudden there were 1,500 people saying they were coming," said Francesca Lucia, Santacon Organizer.
Santacon mugs were also sold at the event.
All of the profits from those will be donated to Toys for Tots.
