FULTON, N.Y. -- Emergency Officials are currently on the scene of an ammonia leak at the old Birds Eye Factory, which is now known as K and N Foods.

Officials say a worker at K and N Foods called 911 to report the ammonia leak.

Fulton City Fire Department, as well as the Oswego Fire Coordinator and Hazmat Team responded to the scene.

The leak has been stopped and officials are now airing out the building.

There were four workers in the plant at the time of the incident. One of them was taken to the hospital for an eye irritation.

A shelter-in-place advisory was also in effect for part of the afternoon, which means nearby residents were asked to stay inside.

That has since been lifted.

The cause of the leak is still under investigation. There was a previous ammonia leak at the plant back in 2012.

The source of that leak was a break in the refrigeration system. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
