CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- Some Central New Yorkers are making sure the holiday spirit is felt by members of the military.
Volunteers were putting together this year's round of Trees for Troops in Canastota Friday.
One hundred Christmas trees were rounded up, most from Romagnoli's Tree Farm. Many of them are headed to Fort Drum.
Organizers said their work comes with a special message.
"It's a real good feeling, it's our little way of saying thank you for all the sacrifices that both the military personnel and their families go through for our freedoms," Event Organizer Dewey Romagnoli Jr. said.
The national Trees for Troops Program has donated more than 122,000 trees to military families around the world.
