ROME, N.Y. -- The former armory in Rome is getting a totally new purpose. It's about to be turned into a church.
The Life Church of Rome is taking over the building after buying the armory at auction. They agreed to pay $99,000 for it.
The church says they wanted a building closer to downtown Rome and an area where they can provide services to the community.
Life Church Pastor Daniel Sanborn said, "What we'll do is bring people in like young people, or whatever, and do like job training, life skill training, anything having to do with life."
The church says they hope to renovate and open the new building by next summer.
