ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick is visiting the White House Thursday to participate in the "Mayors Manufacturing Summit." He is joining 30 other mayors selected across the country and several of Obama's administration officials.
The summit is part of the president's new manufacturing initiative that focuses on revitalizing communities, like Ithaca, through an increase in hi-tech manufacturing jobs and infrastructure investment.
During the summit, mayors are expected to discuss ways they have improved their competitiveness for manufacturing investment. It will give politicians a chance to present their local agendas to the administration.
