Thousands of SU fans piled into the Carrier Dome Tuesday night to watch the Orange defeat the Indiana Hoosiers. A great start to an important season for SU, their first in the ACC. YNN's Cara Thomas caught up with some of SU's fans who say the Orange is ready for the challenge.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- SU fans can't contain their excitement for their team's new season in the ACC.

Season ticket holder Robert McKerrow said, "They're playing Duke at home, North Carolina at home, Indiana's at home right now, the whole ACC's going to be packed this year. It's going to be a good year."

Tuesday night was SU's first time playing in the ACC - Big Ten Challenge. They faced off against the Indiana Hoosiers and took home the win 69 to 52. But even before the game started, SU fans were feeling pretty optimistic.

"I'm ecstatic. I didn't even know I was going to the game tonight, we just got tickets last second, so I'm ecstatic, I'm excited. SU's going to beat Indiana tonight, I'm really hoping for a big win tonight," said SU fan Tanner Colbert.

But it's not just this game they're feeling good about. Orange fans say they're ready to prove themselves throughout the season, especially in their upcoming game against Duke February 1st.

"There's going to be 40,000 people in here I hope, the whole place is going to be packed, it's going to be rockin'," said McKerrow.

Chris Foresi, a fan who traveled in from Canada for the game, said, "I know we're going to beat Duke, I know we're going to beat North Carolina and know we're going to win the ACC easily. Easy work."

Colbert said, "We're going to prove to them we belong in the ACC and we're going to come out number one this year, it's just how it's going to go down. I don't see it any other way. Let's go Orange!"

SU is hoping to draw several 30,000 plus crowds this year and fans say that shouldn't be a problem. With a great lineup ahead, they say they'll be at every game they can.

In just a few weeks, another big game will be at the Dome. SU's former Big East Rival Villanova will be playing in Syracuse on December 28th. North Carolina comes to the Dome January 11th and the much anticipated game against Duke will be February 1st. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
