OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Nine Mile Point Unit Two's nuclear reactor was shut down Monday morning.
According to a Constellation Energy spokesperson, reactor recirculation pumps tripped, causing engineers to manually shut down the reactor.
Constellation Energy says the plant has not been operating at full power since repair work started on the feed water heating system last Tuesday. The recirculation pumps tripped as the plant was being powered down due to the repair work.
Crews are working to fix both issues. It's not known how long the shutdown will last.
The company is investigating what caused the pumps to trip.
