The victim's girlfriend took the stand again as prosecutors continue to try Corbin Whyte after the first two trials ended without a verdict. As Tamara Lindstrom reports, the defense is taking a fine-toothed comb to her testimony.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Exactly what happened between Corbin Whyte and Paul Garcia the night of the fatal shooting was at issue in Tompkins County Court. Garcia was found dead in Ithaca's Maple Hill Apartments parking lot in December 2010.

On Tuesday, Garcia's girlfriend, Giselle Mojica, took the stand in Whyte's murder trial. Mojica said she invited Whyte over at Garcia's request, implying that she wanted to buy drugs.

When Whyte arrived, she testified, Garcia and Whyte had a confrontation and Garcia put a knife to Whyte's throat. She said Garcia showed her drugs and cash after Whyte left.

Later, Garcia got a call and went outside and soon after, Mojica said she heard a gunshot and what she thought was Whyte's voice. But the defense called Mojica's testimony into question, pointing out that her story had changed between interviews with police and Whyte's three trials.

The defense maintains the evidence doesn't connect Whyte to the crime.

Prosecutors will continue calling witnesses Wednesday.

Whyte faces charges of second degree murder, robbery and tampering with evidence. He is free on bail.
