MOHAWK, N.Y.-- A series of races this fall will benefit some of the agencies which helped with flooding in Mohawk.
Five cross country runs and duathlons of different distances will be held at Gelston Castle from September to November.
The Thunderbirds roller hockey club is sponsoring the events.
They're using their annual fundraising efforts to raise money for the Mohawk Fire Department and the Red Cross.
"We felt a very local need for the amount of damage that was done, and how much money, and time, and effort were being put in by people in this area to helping those who were victimized," said Gelston Castle Venue Events Manger Bill Schmilcher.
Organizers said they hope to raise at least $5,000 for each fund to help flood victims.
The races are on:
•Sunday, September 8: Roosevelt Races (1/4 mile, 1 mile, 2 mile, 5K, 10K)
•Saturday, September 14: Duo-Duathlon
•Saturday, September 21: King and Queen of the Mountain (Hill Challenge)
•Saturday, September 28: Thunder Mudder
•Saturday October 26: Zombie Run for Life
•Sunday, November 24: Turkey Trot (1 mile and 2 mile)
