If you'd like to get a look at some unique boats, then Skaneateles may be the place for you this weekend. The 19th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show will take place in and around Clift Park. Brad Vivacqua joins us from Skaneateles with more.
SKANEATELES, N.Y. -- We all know how relaxing it is to enjoy the summer time by the lake. When it comes to boats, here's a little something for the entire family in Skaneateles this weekend in and around Clift Park.
Beginning this Friday afternoon, about 40 boats will be in and out of the water here on the northshore of the lake. You'll find a number of boats dating back to the early twentieth century including sailboats, canoes, and rowing craft. There's also kids activities and a boat parade scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
Organizers say the event is always a great draw for the village while it also helps local businesses. The show is free while there will be concerts and raffles throughout the weekend.
Susan Dove of the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce said, "It's totally free. So, we encourage everybody to come down, enjoy the waterfront. You can talk to the antique boaters and the owners, and they'll be glad to tell you the story. Every boat seems to have a history of some sort so it's a lot of fun."
The Skaneateles Historical Society will also give guided tours around the village and there will also be boat tours available.
