Utica Police are facing another summer peppered with shots fired incidents. But this week, they hope to change course by showing you what's been going on. They've released two dramatic surveillance videos of a shooting. As YNN's Andrew Sorensen tells us, they hope by seeing the video, you might be able to put a stop to it all. We want to warn you, however, the videos may be graphic or disturbing to some people.

UTICA, N.Y. -- A party meant to celebrate a graduation ended with people lucky to have escaped alive.

Private security video shows little girls playing hopscotch on a perfect summer evening on Arthur and West Streets. A man, who police claim is Robert Lindo, 28, getting off a motorcycle. What happens at the party is unclear, but as Lindo gets back on the bike, bullets fly.

Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said, "You know what the scary part about it is? It's bad enough that these knuckleheads shoot at each other. But when you see for yourself, on video, you've got small children playing in that area."

After seeing these videos, Williams felt enough was enough. It was time to show the public what these shots fired incidents look like.

"All of us at are at risk. Again, a stray bullet doesn't have anybody's name on it," he said.

Williams said people were uncooperative after this shooting.

Police released these videos Thursday as a kind of wake-up call.

"The one shooter, that we ended up arresting, was actually shooting over one of the children that was running, trying to run to safety," Williams said.

Lindo is the man they arrested, but you can see at least three others with guns drawn like a wild west shoot out. Williams says they want to identify those people to help stop the rash of shots fired across the city.

"You'd be amazed that with the arrests of just several individuals, that the majority of shots fired calls will quickly end," Williams said.

They suspect some of the same people in multiple cases this summer and they want to catch them ASAP.

"If the shots fired does not calm down, it's a matter of time before an innocent person is going to end up dead," said Williams.

Lindo suffered a minor injury during the shootout. He is now charged with multiple weapons counts and one count of reckless endangerment.

Police are asking anyone with information from the June 22nd shots fired incident, or any other cases this summer, to give their investigators a call. You can call them at (315) 223-3510. All calls will be kept confidential.
