More than 14,000 runners are working their way to Utica for the Boilermaker Road Race this weekend. The events got started Friday with the annual Expo. YNN's Andrew Sorensen caught up with some runners and the race's executive director and has more.
UTICA, N.Y. -- More than 14,000 runners have signed up for this Sunday's Boilermaker road race, making the Boilermaker Expo at MVCC a busy place to be.
The event is where runners can pick up their race packets and a few freebies.
This year, they've added more security and say so far things have been running smoothly.
Up until last year, the Expo was held at the Masonic Care Community, but organizers say they've settled in nicely since moving the event.
"This is our second year at MVCC, so we learned a lot of lessons in regards to last year. Set up all those things that we dealt with were so much easier to than last year," said Boilermaker Executive Director Tim Reed.
The Expo continues Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There's also a spaghetti dinner Saturday night from 3 to 5 p.m. that costs $7 to attend.
