ITHACA, N.Y. -- One person was injured and a house severely damaged after a car crashed into a home in Ithaca.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's office says Hoyt Benjamin, 24, drove into a home on the 1300 block of Trumansburg Road a little before 9 a.m. Thursday. They say Benjamin was trapped inside the car. He had to be cut out and was airlifted to a Syracuse area hospital where he is listed in good condition.

The house sustained significant damage and had to be stabilized with portable struts.

Deputies say charges are pending and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
