NEW YORK - Initially thought by most to be a first- or second-round draft pick, former Syracuse University quarterback Ryan Nassib was finally selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday by the New York Giants.

Nassib says he was disappointed to not be chosen by former SU head coach Doug Marrone in Buffalo but has long compared himself to Eli Manning and is excited to get the chance to study under him. Nassib will also have a familiar face to pair with after fellow former Orange Justin Pugh was picked by Big Blue in the first round.

Right after Nassib was picked at 110th overall the Pittsburgh Steelers selected former SU safety Shamarko Thomas. Cornell offensive lineman J.C. Tretter was also taken in the fourth round by Green Bay, becoming the 31st Big Red alumnus to be drafted but the first since Kevin Booth in 2005, and former Onondaga High School running back Latavius Murray, who played his college ball at Central Florida, was picked by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round.
