STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- A school bus monitor in Bath has been placed on unpaid leave as she faces charges for allegedly choking a child.
Police say the incident happened on Cruger Street and Maple Heights in Bath just before 7 a.m. last Tuesday. They say Nancy Knapp, 45, choked and shook a seven-year-old child.
Knapp has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.
Bath's Superintendent says Knapp was immediately placed on unpaid leave until further notice, pending the legal process. She is scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday.
