SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A grand jury has indicted the Syracuse man accused of helping his two sons in a multi-million dollar lottery scam.

Nayef Ashkar was indicted on one count of offering a false instrument in the first degree and one count of conspiracy in the fourth degree.

Ashkar's sons, Andy and Nayel, are accused of scamming a customer out of a $5 million winning lottery ticket, claiming it was only worth $5,000. Police say it happened back in 2006 at the Green Ale Market, which is owned by a family member.

Police say the brothers planned to illegally claim the prize money six years later.
