Cupid is already starting to make way. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, many are starting to make plans for their Valentine. YNN's Carmella Mataloni tells us that with just a few weeks to go, people are already starting to catch the love bug.
WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- As the calendar turns to February, many are starting to think about how they are going to spoil their loved ones. With only two weeks left until cupid's arrow strikes, thoughts of flowers and chocolates are on the rise.
Why is it important to give your wife flowers on Valentine's Day?
"Just to let her know I care, you know, and make sure she knows someone is thinking about her," said Watertown resident Matthew Plumpton.
"I got a 60 year anniversary coming up, so I'm saving it for her," said Watertown resident Raymond Koberter.
And while every girl likes to get jewelry, candy and cards, nothing says "I Love You" like a dozen roses.
"It's the meaning of love, you know?" said Plumpton.
"Flowers are always fresh and new and exciting! So it's always a really good thing to receive and people get excited when they get flowers," said Kevin Kitto, owner of Sherwood Florist.
With each passing day, many flower shops are already starting to clip off their thorns and tie up their bouquets to make sure the arrow strikes every desk and doorstep on time.
Florists at Sherwood say that they already have a number of people call with flower orders. As you can see, this is just one of the many coolers that are already starting to fill up with those Valentine's Day arrangements.
"We have floral arrangements that are artificial that we've been creating. We also have fresh flowers, chocolates, balloons, teddy bears, candles, all sorts of things we've been stocking the shelves full of," said Kitto.
And while florists can create everything from small arrangements to the works, they say it's important to remember the best projects take time.
"It's best to do a week to ten days ahead of time. So the beginning of February is the best time to order and have everything all set if you want flowers delivered to that special Valentine," said Kitto.
