SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Police and Mayor Stephanie Miner have opened up the city's eighth satellite police office. The newest location is in the Eastwood neighborhood on James Street.

The new storefront office space replaces the police trailers that the mayor says were falling apart and looked terrible. Neighboring businesses, like Pompco, donated office furniture and supplies.

There could be even more satellite offices opening up in the future.

"We'd like to have as many as possible right now, this is our eighth. We think that’s a suitable number. We have one in the valley too and we were able to remove the trailer from the valley location, so right now we’re very happy about how many we have," said Mayor Miner.

The new satellite office will also be available as a community space and for neighborhood meetings. The mayor expects it to help strengthen the connection between police and the Eastwood neighborhood. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
