SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- More than a thousand Syracuse residents will have a merry Christmas, thanks to the efforts of a near westside church.
St. Lucy's on Gifford Street held its annual gift giveaway Saturday. Those who registered were able to get a variety of free gifts, everything from clothing and toiletries to toys.
Organizers say they're happy to help those who may not have much else.
"It might be their only gift. And we have gift wrapping, so they can come in here, have a nice party and leave with gifts for everybody in their family," event co-director Marie Rothbaler said.
Officials say this was their busiest year yet, with more than 900 adults and 300 kids signed up.
