EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Strikes in East Syracuse were meant to make a political point. People gathered at Bowl More Lanes in East Syracuse Tuesday night to "strike out" tax breaks for the rich.

Activists are worried that programs like social security and Medicare could face deep cuts, if tax breaks continue.

Petitions were signed, but some of the signatures weren't inked on your typical piece of paper.

"So we're putting them on our actual bowling towels so we can send them and bring them to our legislators and say hey, we had an event last night with a whole bunch of like minded individuals who believe in these issues and here is the evidence of it and we want you to know the message we want you to send to your leadership in Washington," organizer Trisha Botty said.

Towels will be sent to Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as Representatives Richard Hanna and Ann Marie Buerkle.

The first 100 people there were able to bowl for free. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
